The Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership learned about Easyway International, LLC, and their interest in exploring Nebraska as its first U.S. location, during the September 2008 Governors and Nebraska Department of Economic Developments Reverse Trade Mission. Wenliang Xu, president of Shaanxi Easyway International Freight Company, attended the reverse trade mission.

In April 2009, Marisa Ring, the Partnerships International Business Development manager and Jennifer Zhang, from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, visited with Mr. Xu in Xian, China, to discuss the possibility of an Easyway office in Greater Omaha.

In May, Easyway executives contacted Ring for more information about Greater Omaha. Conversations continued, with Ring and Zhang answering questions on workforce, operating cost, business environment, tax incentives and existing foreign investment and international business activities.

By July, Easyway had expressed interest in visiting Greater Omaha to investigate establishing an office. Two executives from Easyway, including Mr. Xu, visited in September and December 2009 in preparation for todays, March 29, opening.

Ring, Zhang and Joe Chapuran, from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development, worked with Easyway representatives to address immigration, incorporation, tax issues, financial activities, hiring practices and cultural and general business operational differences. The company has been approved for both Nebraska Advantage tax incentives and a Community Development Block Grant.
